Management Accountant
Tiffin School - Kingston upon Thames KT2 6RL
£32,418 - £38,883 a year Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
We are currently recruiting for the new position of Management Accountant due to the growth in workload within the department and an increasing need to establish cover for the duties of the Director of Finance.

The School’s finances have become more complex in recent years as the School and its operations have grown. Not only does the School receive income from the Government, but it also has a strong income stream from its lettings, particularly sports lettings. In addition, significant sums are raised through fundraising, and there is a large turnover in areas such as our in-house catering operation. We are aiming for significant growth in all these areas of the business of the School, and the creation of this new position will help facilitate this.

The post holder will be predominantly responsible for ensuring that the source accounting records are complete and where necessary reconciled, and preparing the monthly management accounts to a level that they can be presented to the senior management team and board of trustees. The role will also have an important element of budgeting and maintaining the multi-year financial plan, initially assisting the Finance Director before taking a leading role.

The position is full time, but slightly reduced part time hours will be considered.
Tiffin School is a boys’ selective state school with a mixed Sixth Form. It has a vibrant and friendly staff, with a diverse mix of teachers and support staff. The location is close to Kingston town centre, with excellent public transport links to Central London. We are close to Richmond and Bushy Parks, and the Surrey countryside. Benefits include Cycle to Work scheme and LGPS Pension. For a good feel of the School, please look at the Head’s Newsletters on the website.

Systems Accountant
The Electoral Commission - London
£51,309 - Full time, Fixed term
The Electoral Commission is the independent body that regulates party and election finance, sets standards for well-run elections and encourages people to register to vote. This has been a busy and exciting time at the Commission with a number of significant polls having taken place including the Scottish Parliament, the Welsh Assembly, the Northern Ireland Assembly, the Mayor of London, and the referendum on membership of the EU.
To support these and other activities we are developing and improving our finance systems to best support internal processes and reporting. The finance and procurement team provide services to the organisation including monthly management accounts, supplier payments, payroll and financial accounting duties.

This role will help the finance team adopt a new way of working and also educate the business. You will work with the team and other key stakeholders to review our current processes and then to assist with the tender for a cloud based GL system – this would enable more flexibility and better reporting to reduce spreadsheet use for reporting. This would allow quicker and more accurate forecasting and reporting for month and year-end.

As our Systems Accountant, you will help facilitate the Commission in meeting the aims and objectives of the Corporate Plan. To enable decision-making, maintenance of sound financial control and delivery of high quality and timely monthly and annual accounts.

An experienced, fully qualified individual, who has a successful track record in a similar role. You will be a self-starter with the ability to make day to day decisions about the effective running of the GL system.
The project is of high risk, a failure could result in a qualification of the annual accounts and/or the Commission be at risk to fraud; if the system implementation is not completed to a high standard. You are expected to present and recommend solutions to the Head of Finance and Procurement and keep relevant colleagues updated on progress against delivery, and to manage the scoping and delivery of the project with minimal support.
The Electoral Commission offers excellent terms and conditions, including flexible working hours and the opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements (dependent on scheme rules) which include a valuable range of benefits.
